How are you designed to SELL?

Have you ever noticed how some sales experiences are smooth and natural, while others feel awkward and even upsetting?

A lot of this comes down to whether or not the salesperson is operating in alignment with their Public Role, which is the natural expression of their personality. 

Pick the right "approach" based on your role, and you'll deliver a natural message. People will love hearing it and want to work with you.

Pick the wrong "approach" based on someone else's role, and you'll end up sounding uncomfortable and awkward (and turn people away from you almost automatically).

So here's my question for you -- are you currently "selling" in a way that matches up with your authentic style or are you following how other people are selling?

To find out for yourself, here's a quick series of examples that show how different people can/should present their message according to their respective Public Roles. 

(I used the same skin care product for each example, in order to highlight how differently we can approach the same product).

1. How an Authority would sell?

I have studied nutrition and specifically skin care science for over 10 years. I love researching and scouring the internet on holistic skin care information. I’ve taken all my knowledge and studies to put together a detailed course on the value of natural skin care products. [sells based on all the research + data collected on a topic]

2. How a Natural would sell?

At an early age, I was drawn to making my own serums and lotions. Since then, people keep telling me how natural I am at giving skin advice. It came easy to me. Now I want to share how you can make your own skin care products too. [notices what other point out that they’re good at, the things that come natural to them that they don’t recognize themselves.]

3. How a Pioneer would sell?

It took me years of experimenting and trial-and-error with different products to clear up my skin. You can skip all that and learn from my mistakes with this one product/technique that actually works. [using their experience of testing lots of options to find what worked]

4. How an Influencer would sell?

Hey , our mutual friend gave me your information to contact you. She says you’re a beauty junkie like me. Well, I found this really cool product that cleared up my skin and wanted to share it with you. It has helped me tremendously. Check it out and let me know what you think. [can easily sell to friends/people they know and through referral marketing]

5. How a Messenger would sell?

Hey stranger, I know we haven’t met yet but I wanted to share this practical solution to clear up your skin. It’s the #1 product I have found that will give you clearer skin in one week. If you’re looking for one product to save the day and your skin then look no further. [can sell to strangers by offering practical solutions typically in times of crisis]

6. How a Leader would sell?

Hey, I am a certified esthetician that’s been practicing holistic skin care for over 20 years. I have seen millions of patients with different skin issues however there’s one product that stands out from the rest. It’s great for all skin types. [has years of experience and certifications to build trust in their field]
