It all starts by identifying the 4 types and placing employees in roles that are a good fit for them based on each person’s Human Design Map results.

The 4 Types

To break it down simply, your Type is your non-verbal presence (i.e. vocal tone, body language and other expressions). 93% of all communication is non-verbal cues and behaviors. We are all unconsciously broadcasting who we are non-verbally!

Your type is the one key piece of information that shifts our perception of who we are—and the world suddenly makes a lot more sense. It helps you move forward with precise strategies you can use right away for better outcomes.

Understanding each type is key to successful communication between teams and fostering employee satisfaction. It’s also helpful to understand each person’s communication style and emotional chemistry so you know better how your employees react and respond to certain situations.

Below is a quick breakdown of the Human Design types so you can understand yourself and support your teams more effectively.

TYPE #1: Builders

Approx. 68% of the population

Builders, also called Generators, have a magnetic presence that draws people and opportunities toward them. They’re a powerhouse with consistent access to energy. They’re here to do the work they love and love the work they do.

They may find it difficult to say “NO,” and commit to the wrong tasks. Not being satisfied with their work can lead to frustration or quitting often.

COMMUNICATION STYLE

Builders are at their best when asked to respond to specific yes/no questions before taking on a project or job. When their gut responds with a yes or “ah-huh” then they know they can work towards something that brings them satisfaction. When they get a no or “uhh-un” or “hmm” then it’s a no for now.

TYPE #2: InitiatorS

Approx. 9% of the population

Human Design Manifestors

Initiator’s, also called Manifestors, have a closed off and impactful presence. They may prefer to work in spurts then rest. They have an incredible gift and ability to act independently to initiate action. They’re here to start something new, get the ball rolling, bring in new ideas and impact others.

The biggest challenge they face is not informing others because of a fear of being controlled. They want to do what they want, when they want without asking permission. They can end up being a workaholic, not having a healthy work-life balance, leading to anger and burnout.

COMMUNICATION STYLE

They must inform others on what they’re up to and be informed by their team in return.

Informing breaks down the defenses and removes the suspicions of others. The more they communicate, the better all of their relationships will be.

TYPE #3: Advisors

Approx. 22% of the population

Advisors, also called Projectors, have a focused and laser-like presence. They have a limited supply of energy to use up every day which means they are super efficient and can streamline your processes. Advisors are designed to work less and not as long hours as Builders. You may notice they require more rest and breaks. They’re at their best when invited to guide others, one person at a time.

They lose their effectiveness when they try to keep up with the Builder types. They don’t know when enough is enough and often give advice without being invited, causing bitterness and burnout.

COMMUNICATION STYLE

They need to wait to be recognized and invited. This strategy ensures they can give guidance and advice at the right time. This opens up an ease of communication and receptivity from other people.

TYPE #4: Evaluators

Approx. 1% of the population

human design reflectors

Evaluators, also called Reflectors, are the rarest of all the types. These are individuals that mirror back the energy of everyone around them. They enjoy being at the center of the business, so they can carefully observe and evaluate the health and well-being of the workplace.

The process of reflecting and observing their environment takes a lot more time than the other types. Their assessment process typically requires a month or two. Pressuring them into making a serious decision quickly or giving them short deadlines can lead to disappointment.

When they are not given ample time to reflect and assess, it can lead to disappointment.

COMMUNICATION STYLE

They need to wait to be invited, initiated or asked to share their objective view of what needs to be adjusted or evaluated. Give them plenty of time to listen, assess and observe their environment.
